The annual Christmas Choir Concert was held Thursday, December 17th at 7 P.M. in the school auditorium. It was a compilation of Christmas-themed songs performed by Morning Choir, Advanced Choir, Madrigals, Jazz Choir, and even Father Doyle! Each choir (and priest) worked for months to prepare for the performance. “We received the music a couple months ago and since then we have gradually been working on it,” explained Rachel Prus (11) of Advanced Choir. “The past month, though, we have worked on it the most, bringing all the songs together and doing fine tuning.”

When they walked in the door, concert attendees were greeted by the festively decorated auditorium. Two Christmas trees, each decked out with lights and ornaments, guarded the wings, and a beautiful manger scene populated by figurines collected from past years of the concert adorned the edge of the stage.

The concert itself began with the Madrigals, who sang “Welcome”, “Here We Come a Caroling”, “Silent Night”, and “Carol of the Bells”. Next up was Jazz Choir, beginning with the classic “Sleigh Ride”. They were then joined onstage by Father Doyle and the Madrigals to sing “Oh, Happy Day”.

Following was Morning Choir, singing “Can You Hear the Angels?”, “Star of Bethlehem”, “Believe”, “On a Cold Christmas Day”, and “Sing Gloria”.  Afterwards they were reunited onstage with Advanced Choir to perform their final song, “Angels Gloria”. Afterwards was Advanced Choir alone, singing “Prelude to Bethlehem”, “While the Snow Lay Sleeping”, “Sing We Now of a Very Merry Christmas”, “Noel Fantasy”, and closing the night with “In the Dark of Midnight”.

Each member of the choirs was excited to showcase their talents. “Madrigals will be interesting with such a big group. We’ve never had so many people before but with the way things are going I think it will all come together very nicely,” commented Emily Miller (11) of Madrigals and Advanced Choir before the performance. “I think I’m looking forward most to the execution of all of our hard work,” added Serena Etcheson (10) of Advanced Choir. “We all love making Mr. Rome proud and with all of our hard work, we always want to make him happy and show our talents to our families and friends in attendance.”

Overall, the concert was a success. Each choir member (and priest) had a great time and performed to the best of their abilities. To everybody who attended the concert, thank you for coming. And to all, have a very merry Christmas.
