Many people will say that any show on Disney Channel now is just another annoying show for kids. Whether they have good shows or not, they seem to dedicate most of their time to ones that no one really likes. But one show that has caught the eyes of many is Gravity Falls.

The series revolves around twelve-year-old twins, Dipper and Mabel, who go to spend the summer with their “Grunkle” Stan. Soon after they get to the town, they are off and exploring the woods, where Dipper finds a hidden journal on all the supernatural mysteries of Gravity Falls. As the series goes on, a variety of characters of introduced along with the nine year old protagonists, such as two people who work for Stan. An interesting fact is it that Gravity Falls is loosely based on Alex Hirsch and his twin’s summers with their grandfather.

Children are drawn to the show because of the imagination and quirky art style it displays. Despite being intended for kids, Gravity Falls is quite popular among young adults to the point where it has a large cult following. The show attracts teens because of the supernatural elements, cryptic messages, and dark undertones, as well as the pop culture references and adult jokes that are occasionally snuck in.

There are also quite a few reasons not to like the show. If you do not enjoy mystery or supernatural type things then this show is not for you. Some episodes can be quite creepy for a show intended for such a young audience, as Gravity Falls gets darker and darker with each episode, which drives away audiences who prefer something more upbeat to watch.

While watching the show you catch onto many positive themes, such as the bond between the Pines family and how, even though they tease each other, they fully support one another. Another reason Gravity Falls might be so popular is because it has touched on popular problems among people today, such as body image, fitting in, and growing up.This quirky cartoon favorite ended after two seasons, and told the story of just one summer, on February 15, 2016. The show has been nominated for twenty-eight awards and won seven. Many of the teenage and young adult fans love Gravity Falls so much that they plan on following Alex Hirsch to the next show he creates.
