As quarter one comes to a close, students and teachers have begun to prepare for the first set of exams for  the year, and for some their first exams ever. For freshman  this time of the year is riddled with stress.  To give these students some reassurance, Mrs. Littner has dedicated a mentor homeroom to underclassmen in order to relieve some of their stress and give study tips.

The first activity done during this  homeroom was called “Life with the Wright Family”, which required the students to listen to directions very closely. In doing so, the students learned the lesson of listening to their teachers when they give information regarding study guides for quarter one. This homeroom was also a time of reflection and planning, as the he students were asked to evaluate, plan, organize, and execute their strategies for tackling the end of the quarter. In evaluation, students checked where they were in their classes, and what kind of scores they needed to get in order to receive their desired grades. Then they were asked to plan where, when, how, and what they needed to study, organization was a key skill covered in this segment.

The last step in exam preparation is for the students to study the material they have prepared. Different study methods were  talked about, to help the students figure out what methods would be most effective. Freshman McKenna Berry was asked how the homeroom benefited her, to which she replied

I thought the mentors did a great job during the homeroom, I feel better about the upcoming exams.”

— McKenna Berry (9)

The mentors concluded the homeroom wishing all students good luck on their exams.
