Marian’s boys basketball had an outstanding season this winter.  Each player has shown true dedication to the sport in their practices and games. But the players weren’t alone, they had a huge support system of family and friends to cheer them on along the way.  Tryouts and practices first started back in November.  Ever since then, all the teams have been working their hardest to improve and succeed.

This year’s freshman team has been working since the first day of tryouts.  The coach is Coach RJ Waytula. Freshman Benjamin Moscinski says that their coach “is patient and knows how to help us improve.”All the players this year have been very excited to play on a high school team, and it shows on the court.  Everyone gives their all, even when they’re dead tired.  This shows true dedication to the sport and how committed they are to do better.

This year’s sophomore team was lead by Coach Josh Binder and Coach CJ Price.  This team’s hard work, determination, and chemistry between each other has made them inevitable for improvement and success.  The team captains are Daniel Dusik (10) and Bryce Radcliffe (10). When asked about their team this year, Radcliffe said, “Our trust for each other is unreal, every player on our team works as hard as they can day in and day out.  The best thing this season would be how we paved a way for the four freshman on our team. We are showing them how to work and what it is like to play a high school sport.”

The Varsity Boy’s Basketball team is full of skill, hard work, and unity.  Some of the players have been playing with each other ever since June for the summer season league.  Then, in November, they met back up for tryouts.  This year’s coaches are Coach James Sarther, Coach Tony Jones, and Coach Matthew Gotch. The team captains are Jack Moscinski, Sam Olrich, Matt Schneider, and  Jack Schneider.  These players were chosen because they are good teammates, vocal, and not afraid to give constructive criticism to other players.  Jack Schneider says, “My brother always pushes me to do my hardest and the fact that this is my last year playing.”  Although it might be sad this is the last year the seniors are playing basketball at Marian, it only pushes them to do better.

Even though this year’s season has come to an end, each grade level team has made lifelong memories and unbreakable friendships.  All the teams worked their hardest and helped each other to improve.  Now, the players are training and preparing for next years’ season!
