Being on the mentor council has been an honor for senior Amanda Morris, and she is grateful to have had the opportunity. Morris’s role on the mentor council is to inform the mentors in her homeroom about upcoming events, and make sure everything goes smoothly. Being a mentor has created a lot of great memories. Morris stated, “My favorite  memory has to be Freshman and Eighth Grade Activity Night. It was so much fun and gave me a chance to get to know some of the current freshman, and incoming freshman.” Although being a mentor was fun, it also taught Morris valuable lessons about teamwork and kindness.
Morris is very glad that she had the chance to share her knowledge with underclassmen, and had the opportunity  to help them with whatever they needed. She has truly enjoyed her time as a mentor and stated, “One of the best parts about being a mentor is just being able to spend time with the underclassman. I really get to know them. ” Morris will use the skills and lessons she has learned  in the fall when she attends the University of Kentucky.
Her mentees were grateful  that she was their mentor. Her current mentee, Grace Gibson (10) commented, “I really enjoyed having Amanda as a mentor because I felt like she actually cared. She always said “Hi” to me in the halls and asked how I was.” With her strong leadership abilities and impressive extracurricular involvement,  Amanda has certainly inspired future Marian leaders.
