The best way to get into the Christmas spirit is by watching Christmas movies.  When December rolls around, some TV channels play Christmas movies all day long.  Some Marian students gave their opinions on what their favorite Christmas movies are.  Here are some of their recommendations for what to watch this season.

The voters were given a list of movies and then had to number their favorite movies 1 to 10.  The movie rated first place was Elf (starring Will Ferrell).  This movie was rated first because anyone of any age can watch it and still find it funny.  Second place was Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas (with Jim Carrey).  This was ranked second because of the movie’s humor.  Jim Carrey does a great job of showing the Grinch’s goofy, weird character.  Third place was Home Alone 2.  This movie is a family favorite and shows an important meaning of Christmas, which is being with your family and friends.  Fourth place was A Christmas Story.  This movie is a great comedy movie to watch to get into the Christmas spirit.  Fifth place was A Christmas Carol.  This movie shows what it is like to truly be in the Christmas spirit and why we should be thankful for all we have.  Sixth place was The Year Without a Santa Claus.  This movie is a fun film because it is so cheesy.  Seventh place was Frosty the Snowman.  This is a movie that everyone loves and is always good to watch when you can’t decide what to watch.  Eighth place was Polar Express.  This movie shows what believing in Christmas means.  Ninth place was National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.  This movie shows what is like to have a crazy, stressful Christmas, but in a funny way.  Tenth place was Miracle on 34th Street.  This movie is a Christmas classic that has been around for years.

Christmas movies are fun to watch with family, friends, or even alone.  They’re always a surefire way to get into the Christmas spirit!
