There is much debate about which Christmas album is truly the best, and everyone has their own favorite. These albums we only hear one month a year also happen to be some of the top selling albums of all time. In no particular order, here are the five best holiday albums.

Home for Christmas- NSYNC

This modern classic was released in 1998 as NSYNC’s second studio album. This record went double platinum with around 4 million records selling worldwide. This album ranks number fifteen on the list of best selling Christmas albums of all time.

Elvis’ Christmas Album- Elvis Presley

Elvis’ first Christmas album ranks as the best selling holiday record of all time. Around 10 million records sold worldwide. Elvis later went on to release a second holiday album “Elvis Sings the Wonderful World of Christmas,” in 1971, which did not turn out to be quite as successful.

Jackson 5 Christmas Album- Jackson 5

This holiday themed album was the Jackson 5’s fourth studio album, released in 1970. It features the smash hit of their cover “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” Over 3.5 million records sold, and it is still very common to hear a few songs from the album on the radio every Christmas season.

A Charlie Brown Christmas- Vince Guaraldi Trio

The soundtrack to the famous television special“A Charlie Brown Christmas” turned out to be just as widely adored as the television program. The record was released a week before the premier of the special in 1964, and has continually been selling numerous copies throughout the following decades.

Merry Christmas- Mariah Carey

“Merry Christmas” by Mariah Carey is probably the most widely adored holiday record of the past few decades. This album consists of original songs, written by Carey herself and producer Walter Afanasieff, along with covers of the classics. Released in 1994, 15 million copies sold worldwide.
