Do you ever feel like there are not enough hours in a day? That you’re busy all day long and the list of things you have to do is neverending? Time is one of life’s most valuable possessions, as it is one thing that you can never get back. A major skill in someone’s life is time management. Some people try to find time for everything and it just doesn’t seem possible. Students have to fit school work in with clubs, sports, family, and, most importantly, sleep.

Each person tries to find the best way to manage their time. “I wake up at 4:30 every morning to take care of my horses and then I have to go to school,” explains Alexis Bauman (9).  Having to manage your time is difficult especially when you have so much to do in a day. Jane Walsdorf (10) explains that “Procrastinating is a major struggle and it prevents me from getting enough sleep.” When you stop and you don’t do anything for a little while or get sidetracked you can lose focus on the important things that you still have to do homework. Other students have sports that take up more of their day, “I leave school almost every day right away and I go to gymnastics from when I get there until 7:30, and then I don’t get home until 8,” said Courtney Sensabaugh (10). How people get it done is a matter of using time wisely and staying up late at night to get it all done.

The stress of knowing how much homework you have to do that night can also affect you in a major way. “I just want to cry or take naps when I’m super stressed,” explained Walsdorf (10). Everything is almost always scheduled around the school. Sports and school take up the majority of the day and how you manage your time depends on what works for you.

Figuring out how to use that time that you have left to eat dinner, do your homework, and other activities might be very difficult, especially when you find out you have homework in every subject and four tests the next day. The thought of it may totally scare you but just remember, there is always a way to fit it all in if you use your time wisely and find the best time in your schedule that works for you.
