We know the month of October has begun as the season of apple picking, visiting pumpkin farms, and eating apple cider donuts. Halloween is right around the corner, which means it’s once again time to watch Halloween movies. There are many popular Halloween movies from horror movies like “Scream” (1996) to comedies like “Hocus Pocus” (1993).  Favorite movies and Halloween traditions vary from person to person and will leave them with memories they will remember forever.

Selia McManus’s (10) favorite movie is the Halloween classic, “Halloweentown” (1998). The film is about a family who follows their grandma to a place called Halloweentown, which is the only place where supernatural beings can live a “normal” life. McManus declares that her favorite part is when “they all realize that family is the most important thing and our greatest strength when we are all united as one.” Likewise, Emma Samonek (10) also has a fond interest for “Halloweentown”. “The movie is just so good all-around,” explains Samonek. Everyone has a certain place that sets the tone for viewing flicks. “I like watching movies at my friends’ houses so then I can talk while watching the movie,” says McManus. Samonek enjoys watching movies in either her basement or the living room. When it comes to scary movies such as “Insidious” (2010), both Samonek and McManus say they will never watch it. Everyone has different Halloween movie favorites and each movie contributes to the feel of the season.

Every person has their own preferences for movies, whether it be scary or comedy, or drama or romance. Both McManus and Samonek share the same favorite Halloween movie but have different opinions on their favorite place that helps set the tone for watching movies. There are many Halloween traditions that people partake in that set the Halloween vibe and fall experience, as well as leave them with fantastic and lifelong memories.
